Where the blow landed shapes the read

After a head injury, where the blow landed shapes what we look for and where.

Modern imaging lets us map the scalp itself, slicing beneath the skin to look for the small signature an impact leaves behind. In one workflow we use, a careful look under the surface can pin down an impact site a routine read would never chase.

Why does it matter? Because the brain does not only get hurt where it was struck. Forces travel. Knowing the point of impact tells you which structures on the far side to examine closely.

Good imaging is not just naming what is abnormal. It is understanding the mechanism well enough to know where to look next.
